About Me
Dr Abhik Bhattacharya is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine, and an Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Specialist at the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. He specializes in the treatment of complex inflammatory bowel diseases patients which includes both Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. He finished his internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, followed by Gastroenterology fellowship training and Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Diseases training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and University of Pennsylvania, respectively. His clinical focus lies in the treatment of extra-intestinal manifestations of IBD. These are a group of inflammatory manifestations of IBD occurring outside the GI system, namely joints, eyes and skin. Along with Dr. Bahar Moghaddam of the Division of Rheumatology, he spearheads the special multidisciplinary IB-DART (Inflammatory bowel diseases and arthritis clinic) at the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center.
His current research interest includes looking at the long term outcomes of patients with spondylo-arthritis and IBD, especially the effectiveness of various immunosuppressant medications in the treatment of these conditions.
