About Me

Adam Korayem, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery at Mount Sinai West, Mount Sinai Morningside, and The Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Korayem earned his MD and PhD degrees from Rutgers University, New Jersey Medical School in 2015 and completed his training in vascular surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in 2020.

His PhD in vascular physiology contributed to our understanding of how the microcirculation responds to ischemia/reperfusion injury. An extension of his graduate work and a current clinical focus is to find ways to mitigate the often-deleterious effects of ischemia/reperfusion on the vascular system. Dr. Korayem is a collaborator with the laboratory of Dr. Jason Kovacic at the Icahn School of Medicine and is working to understand how specific cells within the microcirculation contribute to cardiovascular disease and vein graft failure. Dr. Korayem has won numerous awards throughout his training including the Vascular Techniques and Tech Think Tank (VAST3) 2019 Fellows competition. He has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts and has traveled extensively to present his research at many national and regional meetings.

In addition to being passionate about research, Dr. Korayem has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses in basic science and vascular surgery at Hunter College, Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). He currently serves as a co-clerkship director for the surgery clerkship at ISMMS.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.

Dr. Korayem has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.

Mount Sinai's faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
