Adriana Feder, MD
Psychiatry
About Me
Dr. Feder is Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the Trauma and Resilience Program, and Associate Director for Research at the World Trade Center Mental Health Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is also a senior investigator at the Depression and Anxiety Center for Discovery and Treatment: https://icahn.mssm.edu/research/depression-anxiety-center.
Dr. Feder's research spans clinical, epidemiological and translational studies of resilience and posttraumatic stress in a range of trauma-exposed populations. She has led federally funded collaborative studies on the longitudinal course and biomarkers of PTSD and resilience in World Trade Center (WTC) rescue and recovery workers, including genetic and neuroimaging biomarkers. She is recognized as an expert in the psychobiology of resilience, and has published several invited reviews on the subject in leading scientific journals.
Dr. Feder's research also focuses on the development of novel treatment interventions for PTSD and related disorders. She was awarded a NARSAD Independent Investigator Award from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation to evaluate the efficacy of repeated ketamine infusions for the treatment of PTSD. Her research has significantly contributed to the development of ketamine as a treatment for PTSD, including the first published randomized controlled trials of single and repeated intravenous ketamine infusions for PTSD, as well as the first published neuroimaging study of ketamine for PTSD. She is currently investigating a potential synergistic effect of adding a brief trauma-focused psychotherapy to a course of ketamine infusions for individuals with PTSD.
