Afm Ashik Imran, DO

Dr. AFM Ashik Imran joined Mount Sinai Doctors and Mount Sinai South Nassau in 2026 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology with The Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Imran attended medical school at Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh. He subsequently moved to the United States and graduated from The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Imran then completed his residency in Internal Medicine with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai South Nassau, where he served as Assistant Chief Resident in his final year, followed by his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism with the One Brooklyn Health System at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he served as Chief Fellow in his final year.

Dr. Imran is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and specializes in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism.

In his professional community, Dr. Imran is a member of several organizations, including the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE). He has been published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society, as well as AACE practice journals. He has also written multiple abstracts and completed poster presentations at both the Endocrine Society and AACE conferences.

When discussing his pathway into medicine, Dr. Imran explains, "My journey into medicine and endocrinology began with a deep desire to help people when they need it most—both at the earliest stages of a condition to prevent complications, and during critical moments when healing is most urgent. I chose endocrinology because hormones regulate our entire bodies, meaning small, consistent changes can completely transform a person's quality of life. I wanted to be a lifelong advocate for good health for everyone, ensuring my patients feel truly supported at every stage of their health journey." As a physician, Dr. Imran establishes a partnership with each of his patients. He describes these partnerships as based on a team approach with Dr. Imran serving as an active advocate while providing clear education.

Dr. Imran advises each patient to focus on consistency, understanding, and education. He explains, "Consistency matters. Managing hormone levels require steady, daily habits rather than short-term fixes. Additionally, knowledge is power. Understanding exactly how your specific condition works will help you make confident, informed choices every day. Raising your own health awareness is the single best way to address your long-term health needs."

Outside of his time with patients, Dr. Imran describes himself as "an explorer at heart." He enjoys discovering new areas, whether that means heading to the beach, retreating to the mountains, taking long drives, or packing a picnic. Most of all, he cherishes every moment spent recharging with his family and friends.

Dr. Imran is bilingual and can communicate with patients in English and Bangla.
