About Me
Dr. Akaraphan "Art" Sukanthanag (pronouns: he/him/his) is a primary care physician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Originally from Los Angeles, he obtained his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles County, CA. He then completed his family medicine residency at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Roanoke, VA, where he was awarded a Humanism in Medicine award for demonstrating compassionate care for others. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is also an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Sukanthanag is committed to providing culturally competent care, and he speaks and provides care in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese Chinese. He also has working knowledge of Japanese and Thai. He advocates for patient-centered, holistic care and is passionate about preventative medicine, integrative medicine, and serving patients from all backgrounds. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, calligraphy, taichi, meditation, and considers himself a cultural enthusiast.
