Alan E Renton, PhD
About Me
Alan Renton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics & Genomic Sciences and the Nash Family Department of Neuroscience, and a member of the Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer’s Disease. He received his PhD in Neurogenetics from University College London, Institute of Neurology. He undertook postdoctoral fellowships in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis genetics and Alzheimer's disease genetics/functional genomics at the Laboratory of Neurogenetics, National Institute on Aging and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, respectively.
His research interests focus on applying computational and collaborative approaches to resolve the genetic risk and resilience architecture and mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders in global populations, thereby promoting efforts to discover therapeutic interventions. He is the Genetics and Multi-Omics Core Co-Leader for the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Observational Study (DIAN Obs) and the Genetics Core Co-Leader for the DIAN Trials Unit (DIAN-TU), that focus on autosomal dominant Alzheimer's disease. He is ongoing contributor to the Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project consortium that focuses on polygenic Alzheimer's disease, including Co-Leader for the Protective Variant Working Group.
