About Me
Alexandra Coria, MD, in an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Health System Design and Global Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Coria attended medical school at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, during which she completed a year as an NIH Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholar. She then completed her residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics (Boston Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital), where she was in the Urban Health and Advocacy track. She has since worked for the Baylor Global Health Corps providing clinical care and medical education in Tanzania, served as core faculty in the Boston Children’s Hospital pediatric residency global health track, and most recently led the establishment of an institutional global health education program at Maimonides Medical Center. Her clinical interests include health equity, the social determinants of health and provider-patient communication. Her academic interests include implementation of low-cost, evidence-based interventions for child health in low-resource environments, especially by using high-quality educational interventions and quality improvement methods. She also has an interest in medical writing and creative nonfiction, and has published in outlets such as the Boston Globe Magazine, Narratively and Truly Adventurous.
