About Me
Ali Soroush, MD, MS, is a gastroenterologist and interdisciplinary researcher integrating artificial intelligence into the field of gastroenterology. He joins the Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology and the Division of Data-Driven and Digital Medicine (D3M). He will lead the gastroenterology section of the Nadkarni lab, where he will focus on the intersection of upper gastrointestinal cancer epidemiology and artificial intelligence. Dr. Soroush’s research focus is using novel machine learning approaches for the identification of novel cancer risk factors and improved cancer risk stratification models. To improve artificial intelligence literacy and innovation in the field of gastroenterology, Dr. Soroush is collaborating with several major professional gastroenterology societies to organize a broad educational campaign as well as mentorship and innovation programs.
Dr. Soroush earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, going on to Columbia University to complete his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology. While serving as the chief gastroenterology fellow, Dr. Soroush leveraged cloud platforms and the electronic health record system to optimize clinical and administrative workflows for his co-fellows. During his fellowship, Dr. Soroush also earned an MS in Patient-Oriented Research and was awarded the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center Velocity Data Science Fellowship to pursue supplementary research training in machine learning and data science. In 2022, he was named an American Association of Gastroenterology Innovation Fellow.
