About Me
Dr. Alison Gruen is a Clinical Instructor at Mount Sinai. After being awarded her B.A in History, Magna Cum Laude, from Princeton in 1996, Dr. Gruen attended Yale University School of Medicine earning her M.D. degree in 2000. She completed her internship year at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center’s Department of Medicine. In 2001, she entered her dermatology residence at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, graduating in 2004. Dr. Gruen served as Chief Resident during her final year of residency training. In addition to her outstanding academic record as an undergraduate, Dr. Gruen was awarded the Outstanding Physician Award on Doctor’s Day at King’s County Hospital Center (2003). In 2004, the Women’s Dermatologic Society presented her with the organization’s Mentorship Award, allowing her to study dermatologic laser surgery under Dr. Tina Alster. That same year, Dr. Gruen took first place in the 15th Annual Conrad Stritzler Memorial Resident Competition sponsored by The Dermatologic Society of Greater New York and was also inducted into the ETA New York Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. A clinical accomplished and compassionate physician, Dr. Bruen won the Patients’ Choice Award in 2008 and 2009. Dr. Gruen was board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 2004 and is licensed to practice medicine in New York.
She has published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and contributed to the 3rd edition of Primary Care Secrets. Dr. Gruen has also presented at the Summer Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
