About Me
Alla Prokhovnik-Raphique, Ph.D., (Preferred Pronouns: She/Her/Hers) is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a New York State licensed clinical psychologist and addiction specialist. Since 2019, she worked in the Student and Trainee Mental Health Program at Icahn School of Medicine. Currently, Dr. Prokhovnik-Raphique sees patients privately through her private practice (see https://www.nurturingrootspsychology.com for more information) and conducts psychological evaluations for individuals seeking asylum through the Mount Sinai Human Rights Clinic. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Prokhovnik-Raphique is involved in recruitment and training of pre-doctoral psychology trainees as well as research focusing on various aspects of addiction.
Dr. Prokhovnik-Raphique earned her Ph.D at Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed her pre-doctoral internship at Kings County Hospital Center. After graduating, Dr. Prokhovnik-Raphique completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Addiction Institute of Mount Sinai, where she subsequently worked providing individual and group psychotherapy to a diverse population of clients struggling with a variety of addictive disorders. She has advanced training in prolonged exposure treatment for trauma. Dr. Prokhovnik-Raphique provides evidence based treatment for a wide range of conditions integrating CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing and psychodynamic approaches to tailor care to her patients’ unique needs. As a first generation immigrant, Dr. Prokhovnik-Raphique is interested in issues related to immigration and acculturation.
