About Me
Althea Agdamag, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of the Philippines and her medical degree from the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine, where she was recognized as a college scholar. She completed her pediatric residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital.
During her fellowship, Dr. Agdamag’s research focused on the role of the gut microbiome in promoting chronic inflammation and disease progression in myeloproliferative neoplasms. Her work earned an American Society of Hematology (ASH) Abstract Achievement Award, a merit-based honor recognizing high-scoring research submitted by trainee investigators.
Her clinical interests encompass classical hematology, with a particular focus on nutritional anemias, bleeding and clotting disorders, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and vascular anomalies. She is especially passionate about caring for children and adolescents with complex hematologic conditions and helping patients and their families navigate chronic illness.
