Amith Maroli, PhD
About Me
Amith Sadananda Maroli, M.Phil., Ph.D., is an Instructor and Senior Scientist in the Department of Environmental Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Maroli specializes in developing analytical methods for both targeted and untargeted analyses for exposomic studies, enabling more comprehensive measurement of lifetime environmental exposures and their associated health outcomes. His work includes pioneering advanced methods and data analysis protocols for characterizing legacy and novel environmental pollutants including emerging PFAS and PFAS substitutes.
As an experienced analytical scientist, Dr. Maroli leads efforts to expand analytical capabilities for detecting exogenous chemicals across a wide range of matrices, including plasma, serum, tissues, and data from personal wearable devices. Recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of exposomics, he collaborates nationally and internationally with medical professionals and environmental scientists to design and execute research projects
Dr. Maroli earned his Ph.D. in Plant and Environmental Sciences from Clemson University and completed a postdoctoral research appointment at the New York State Center for Clean Water Technology at Stony Brook University.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Maroli has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
