Amrita Gupte, MD, MPH, MBA, has a broad range of experience at Mount Sinai Queens, having served in several positions throughout her time here. Before she assumed her duties as Chief Medical Officer in 2021, Dr. Gupte was the Hospital's Deputy Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Gupte began her tenure at Mount Sinai Queens as Medical Director of Clinical Operations and Patient Safety. There, she was a leader in reducing Emergency Department boarding time and a champion for length-of-stay initiatives. She managed several resource utilization programs and implemented standardized care pathways—including joint replacement—to optimize discharge to home.
Dr. Gupte received her medical degree from King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in Mumbai, India. She went on to complete an internship and residency in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York Medical College. She subsequently completed an MPH in Health Policy and Management from New York Medical College as well as an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.
