About Me
Ana Monteagudo, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine specialist at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Monteagudo also serves as a Professor and Director of Obstetrical Ultrasound Quality and Education in the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Monteagudo is a well-known expert in the field of imaging, specifically as it relates to the brain; she is one of the editors of the Ultrasound of the Prenatal Brain which is currently in its 4th edition. In addition, her special interest includes first trimester fetal imaging, second trimesters evaluation of fetal anomalies, 3D evaluation of congenital uterine anomalies as well as women's imaging, specifically as it relates to gynecological conditions, such as evaluation of ovarian cysts and fibroids.
Dr. Monteagudo earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She completed her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Dr. Monteagudo served for 17 years as full-time faculty at New York University, where she served as a full Professor and held multiple leadership and teaching positions, including Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Director of the MFM Fellowship, and Director of the OBGYN Ultrasound unit.
Dr. Monteagudo has been published and has lectured extensively on the use of transvaginal sonography, evaluation and diagnosis of the fetal central nervous system abnormalities, first trimester fetal anatomical survey, multifetal pregnancy, 3D ultrasonography, ectopic pregnancies, cesarean scar pregnancy, as well as gynecological ultrasound. She has taught physicians and trainees for more than 30 years regarding transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound, fetal brain anatomy and anomalies, and the fetal central nervous system.
Dr. Monteagudo is a member of many prestigious societies, such as the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the New York Obstetrical Society, the New York Perinatal Society, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, where she served on their Board of Governors.
