About Me

Dr. Anand Shukla was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Business Management from Stony Brook University. He worked for a year as a Community HealthCorps VISTA member at the William F. Ryan Community Center on the Upper West Side prior to medical school. Anand returned to Brooklyn to attend SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Northwell Health’s Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side. He joined Lenox Hill Hospital as a hospitalist in 2018 after graduating residency.

Dr. Shukla has a passion for teaching and won Attending of the Year in 2018 and 2021 in the Department of Medicine. He became an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program in January 2020. He was also Sub-Internship Clerkship Director for MS4s from the Hofstra School of Medicine, SUNY Downstate, and New York Medical College. As a physician lead on the medical floors, Dr. Shukla worked closely with social workers, case managers, and nurse managers to improve transitions of care, patient safety, and medication education. Among his various hospitalist duties, Dr. Shukla was a leader in the orthopedic co-management service, clinical documentation and the hospital-wide Antibiotic Stewardship and Penicillin Skin Allergy Testing Program.

Dr. Shukla is the current MS3 Site Clerkship Director for Inpatient Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He is also co-director of the Hospitalist Elective for the Internal Medicine Residency at Beth Israel.
