About Me

Andrea Lendaris MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Associate Clerkship Director at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and practices as a Vascular Neurologist and Neurohospitalist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Beth Israel.

Dr. Lendaris received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed her internship in medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, returning to the Bronx to complete her neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. During her neurology training, Dr. Lendaris received The Isabelle Rapin, MD, Scholarly Activity Award (2021-2022), was awarded the American Academy of Neurology Enhanced Resident Leadership Program (2022), and received the Teaching Star: Teaching Commendation for the Academic Year 2020-2021 from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Lendaris served as a Chief Resident (2021-2022), and Neurology Housestaff Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee (2020-2023). She actively participates in clinical research, and committees that focus on improvements in healthcare systems and work to resolve healthcare disparities, and advance medical education. Currently, Dr. Lendaris is serving as a member of the American Academy of Neurology Pipeline Subcommittee. She has been published multiple times in the peer-reviewed stroke journals, Stroke, Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases. Dr. Lendaris has been invited to present her work at the International Stroke Conference, provide guest lectures, and speak at The LighthouseGuild benefit, among others.

Dr. Lendaris initially entered the healthcare field as a practicing speech pathologist in San Francisco and New York City area hospitals. She holds an undergraduate degree from Marymount Manhattan College, masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in the field of speech pathology. Dr. Lendaris worked toward a career change later in life where she could combine her training as a speech pathologist with the medical management of stroke patients. Dr. Lendaris draws on her personal experience as a physician with hearing and vision impairments, and professional training to educate rising physicians on how to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, including how to adapt these strategies for people with disabilities.

Dr. Lendaris sees patients at Mount Sinai Hospital with a variety of neurological disorders, with a specialty in acute stroke care and stroke-related disorders.
