About Me

Dr. Sanz is part of the Clinical Cardiovascular MRI and CT Program, an exciting new area of Cardiovascular Medicine that employs state-of-the-art imaging technology to diagnose diseases of the heart and blood vessels without the need invasive or risky procedures. Dr. Sanz completed his training in Medicine and Cardiology in Madrid (Spain). He first became interested in Cardiovascular MRI during a Short-Term Fellowship in the Cardiovascular MRI Department of the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Sanz then joined the Clinical Cardiovascular MRI and CT Program in The Mount Sinai Hospital, initially as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and, in 2004, as a Research Instructor of Medicine/Cardiology.

At Mount Sinai, Dr. Sanz works in close collaboration with colleagues from the Cardiovascular Institute and the Radiology Department, both in the clinical and research fields. His research interests include the applications of cardiac CT in the comprehensive evaluation of ischemic heart disease, and the use of MRI in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Sanz is also the Co-Director of a Cardiovascular Imaging Core Laboratory for two multicenter trials funded by NIH, evaluating the effects of frequent dialysis on cardiovascular function.
