About Me
Dr. Riccobono has spent her career committed to the goal of improving the lives of people with disabilities. Her distinguished 30+ year career includes the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the United Spinal Association in recognition of her dedication, leadership, and advocacy for persons with spinal cord injury, the Master of Motivation Award given by Determined to Educate for outstanding contribution with the QuadGods, and the Standing Tall Award given by the Alan T Brown Foundation for outstanding contributions to quality of life after paralysis. She is a recipient of a quality of life project grant from the Craig H Nielsen foundation, to develop an educational program to promote intimacy and sexuality for individuals with spinal cord injury; the website created from that project, sexualitysci.org, is a globally recognized resource.
Media opportunities (e.g., HBO “QuadGods” documentary, Good Morning America, Channel 4 and ABC News, USA Today) continue to bring local and national recognition to the trials and triumphs of individuals with disabilities.
As recipient of a philanthropic gift, Dr. Riccobono established the Nancy Lieberman Back to Life Center, a groundbreaking space within the Mount Sinai Health System, designed to empower newly injured and long-term patients through state-of-the-art assistive technologies, peer engagement, and personalized support.
In her free time, Dr. Riccobono embraces time in nature and enjoys gardening and birdwatching.
