About Me
Dr. Anita Venkatesan (she/her) earned her bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada. Recognizing the importance of a public health approach in medicine, she pursued a master's in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology from New York University.
She completed her Family Medicine residency at the Institute of Family Health in Mid-Hudson, NY, where she served as the Resident Education Leader in her final year. During residency, she played a key role in developing the LGBTQ+ specialty track and establishing gender-affirming care services across all clinic sites.
Dr. Venkatesan furthered her expertise by completing a fellowship in LGBTQ+ Medicine at Mount Sinai, focusing on integrating LGBTQ+ care into medical education. During her fellowship, she developed a lecture series and an elective for medical students and residents. Her dedication to the LGBTQ+ community has been recognized with the Excellence in LGBTQ+ Health award from the American Medical Association.
