Anita Venkatesan, MD
Family Medicine
About Me
Dr. Anita Venkatesan (she/her) earned her bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada. Recognizing the importance of a public health approach in medicine, she pursued a master's in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology from New York University.
She completed her Family Medicine residency at the Institute of Family Health in Mid-Hudson, NY, where she served as the Resident Education Leader in her final year. During residency, she played a key role in developing the LGBTQ+ specialty track and establishing gender-affirming care services across all clinic sites.
Dr. Venkatesan furthered her expertise by completing a fellowship in LGBTQ+ Medicine at Mount Sinai, focusing on integrating LGBTQ+ care into medical education. During her fellowship, she developed a lecture series and an elective for medical students and residents. Her dedication to the LGBTQ+ community has been recognized with the Excellence in LGBTQ+ Health award from the American Medical Association.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Everything is great.
Excellent experience.
The doctor was absolutely incredible. She made me feel seen and heard.
