Anthony Boiardo, PhD

About Me

Dr. Anthony G. Boiardo is a  New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine. He is a clinical psychologist specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy with a focus on personality disorders, trauma, and co-occurring substance use disorders. He completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at The New School for Social Research under the mentorship of Drs. Miriam and Howard Steele. He completed his Predoctoral Internship at Madison Park Psychological Services. He subsequently pursued advanced clinical training as a postdoctoral fellow at Silver Hill Hospital, where he specialized in trauma & dissociation, personality disorders, and substance abuse disorders.

Dr. Boiardo has extensive experience treating a broad range of mental health concerns from a psychodynamic and relational framework, integrating multiple treatment modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP). His clinical expertise also extends to working with sexual and gender minorities, addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals.

At Mount Sinai’s Student and Trainee Mental Health Services, Dr. Boiardo is dedicated to providing tailored treatment to individuals seeking treatment while at Mount Sinai. His work focuses on understanding the role of early relational experiences in shaping psychological resilience and vulnerability, with the goal of improving individuals’ mental health.
