About Me
Dr. Anthony Nehlsen is a radiation oncologist at Mount Sinai West, where he specializes in the use of radiation therapy to treat malignancies of the central nervous system, breast, and prostate. He uses cutting-edge resources offered in the Mount Sinai System – as well as advanced radiation therapy techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, respiratory gating, and proton beam therapy – to optimize patient outcomes and minimize side effects.
Dr. Nehlsen understands the burdens associated with a cancer diagnosis, and works with the entire Mount Sinai team to ensure that patient concerns are heard and appropriately managed.
He completed his residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he received the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award. Dr. Nehlsen has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications covering a wide variety of oncologic topics, primarily focusing on quality of life and toxicity outcomes. In addition, he has opened prospective clinical trials evaluating toxicity outcomes for patients with prostate cancer as well as head and neck malignancies. Outside of work, Dr. Nehlsen enjoys spending time with his family, sports, and cooking.
