About Me

As an autoimmune neurologist, Dr. Yeshokumar cares for patients with autoimmune encephalitis, multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, neurosarcoidosis, and other autoimmune diseases that affect the central nervous system in children and adults. 

Dr. Yeshokumar joined the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2017. She received her undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she majored in Neuroscience. She obtained her MD degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She completed her pediatrics residency at the Westchester Medical Center, where she won the Dr. Leonard K. Newman Teaching Award and was elected to the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society for her humanism and excellence in teaching. She completed her neurology residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she was awarded the Frank L. Coulson Jr. Award for Clinical Excellence and the Jay Slotkin Award for Excellence in Research. She was elected chief resident in her final year, during which time she also completed the Science of Clinical Investigation (SOCI) Graduate Training Program through the School of Public Health. She then pursued a combined adult and pediatric fellowship in the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmune Fellowship Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, funded by National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In her first year on faculty at Mount Sinai, she received the Department of Neurology’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
