About Me
Arthur Smerling, MD, is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, and Critical Care Medicine. He brings over 38 years of experience to Mount Sinai.
Dr. Smerling earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Hospital Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics. He then pursued a residency in Anesthesiology at Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia and Critical Care at Children’s Hospital Boston, where he was Chief Fellow.
Dr. Smerling’s clinical focus is Pediatric Critical Care, particularly Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care. His research interests include pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, and the wellbeing of providers. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the New York State Societies of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
