About Me
I am a 6th year MD/PhD student belonging to the Class of 2027. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2019, where I received my major in Microbiology and minored in Anthropology (Biological Anthropology concenration) and Health Disparities in Society. During my undergraduate career, I was mentored Dr. Amy Vittor at the Emerging Pathogens Institute. Here, I studied Mayaro virus, an arbovirus that is endemic in South America to further our understanding of its cellular tropism and virus:host interactions. After graduating, I immediately began my MD/PhD training at Mt. Sinai. I recently received my Ph.D. under the mentorship of Drs. Jean Lim and Benhur Lee, where I studied the tropism and pathogenesis of emerging and re-emerging Paramyxoviruses, mumps and Menangle, respectively. I have recently returned to medical school to complete the MD portion of my training, and ultimately hope join a physician scientist track residency program in Pathology or Internal Medicine (Infectious Disease). Long term, I hope to leverage my MD/PhD training to run a lab where I continue to study the virus:host interface to further human health.
