About Me
Babak Mohajer, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist practicing at Mount Sinai’s Doctor Noho location in downtown Manhattan. He is deeply committed to patient-centered care that is informed by ongoing training to stay abreast of new developments and technologies in gastroenterology, and respectful shared decision making with his patients. His approach to medicine has earned him admiration and respect, including numerous Patient Choice and Top Doctor awards from patients and the Castle Connolly award from his peers.
Dr. Mohajer’s practice covers a wide range of general gastroenterology issues, from managing acid reflux to irritable bowel disease. He also is highly proficient at performing procedures such as upper endoscopies, colonoscopies and hemorrhoid treatments, evidenced by his above national average adenoma polyp detection rates and slow colonoscopy withdrawal time.
Dr. Mohajer received his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin, followed by a residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, where he earned the distinction of Chief Resident. In 2000, he completed his gastroenterology training at the University of California at Irvine and returned to New York City to join Gramercy Park Physicians, a multi-specialty group where he practiced internal medicine and gastroenterology for more than 10 years. Prior to joining Mount Sinai Dr. Mohajer operated his own successful private practice in the Flatiron area for more than 13 years.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
