About Me
Bethany Slater, MD, is Division Chief of Pediatric General Surgery at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital and a Professor of Pediatrics and Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She leads a team of pediatric surgeons who care for children of all ages, from newborns to teens, with a wide range of surgical conditions.
Dr. Slater is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, which uses small incisions to reduce pain after surgery and help children recover faster. She has extensive experience using these techniques even in newborns. Her clinical interests include anorectal malformations (conditions present at birth that affect the rectum and anus), chest wall differences, other birth defects, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), newborn surgery, and surgery for childhood cancers.
Dr. Slater earned her medical degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, completed her surgical residency at Stanford University Hospital, and completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
Working closely with specialists across Mount Sinai, Dr. Slater creates personalized, evidence-based treatment plans and partners with families to provide compassionate care at every step.
