Dr. Bhavana Bhagya Rao is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine, and the Director of the Fellows' Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) clinic at the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. She completed her internal medicine residency and certificate course in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Scholar's track. She did her fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio where she also served as Chief fellow. She completed her advanced fellowship in IBD at the University of Pennsylvania. She has previously served as a Clinical Instructor at the Case Western Reserve Lerner College of Medicine, a visiting educator at the Georgetown Public Hospital, Guyana and is a member of the AGA Academy of Educators and the ACG International Relations Committee. Her research focuses on improving trainee and patient education and she runs several educational projects for trainees including the AGA educational grant funded www.gi-sim.com.
