About Me

Dr. Birgit Vogel is a cardiologist and cardiovascular disease researcher. She is the Director of Academic Affairs at the Center for Interventional Cardiovascular Research and Clinical Trials at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in the Fuster Heart Hospital. Dr. Vogel completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Wilhelminen Hospital in Vienna, Austria, and an Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging fellowship at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in New York.

As a member of the Lancet Women and Cardiovascular Disease Commission and the first author of the Commission report, her research interests include a strong focus on sex- and gender disparities in patients with cardiovascular disease. Dr. Vogel is part of the Women’s Heart and Vascular Center at Mount Sinai Heart, where she applies her clinical and scientific expertise to meet the unique needs of women’s cardiovascular health.She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
