About Me
Dr. Parsons is the Chief of Shoulder Service at the Mount Sinai Health System and is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Additionally, he serves as the Director of the Orthopedic Residency Program, Director of the Mount Sinai Shoulder Fellowship, and Vice-Chair of Education at the Leni and Peter W. May Department of Orthopedic Surgery. As a fellowship trained Shoulder and Elbow specialist, Dr. Parsons is available to discuss injuries or conditions relating to the shoulder or elbow and many other general orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Parsons completed his residency training at The Mount Sinai Hospital and his shoulder and elbow fellowship at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. His clinical interests include arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery; rotator cuff repair, instability surgery, latarjet instability surgery, shoulder reconstruction and arthroplasty, shoulder fracture management; elbow reconstruction, and arthroplasty elbow fracture and instability surgery, elbow ligament reconstruction and treatment of elbow sports injury.
Dr. Parsons is actively involved in research and recent projects have examined the outcome of proximal humerus fractures treated with locked plating, outcome of percutaneous techniques of proximal humeral fracture management, biomechanical analysis of proximal humeral fracture fixation, outcome of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, anatomic analysis of long head biceps injury and techniques of arthroscopic biceps tenodesis, results of hemiarthroplasty management of proximal humeral fractures, role of physical therapy in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and the incidence of heterotopic ossification following elbow fracture-dislocation injuries.
In addition to fellowship training, Dr. Parsons has further trained with world renowned surgeons in Lyon, Nice and Annecy, France, Zurich, Switzerland, as well in renowned medical centers in the US including the Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical Center. Dr. Parsons lectures regionally, nationally, and internationally on shoulder and elbow conditions and is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, Association of Clinical Elbow and Shoulder Surgeons, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
