About Me
Dr. Carlos Benitez is a Board-Certified Radiologist at the Mount Sinai Health System specializing in musculoskeletal imaging. He has over 16 years of clinical experience and is currently an Attending Radiologist at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside Hospitals. He is Associate Professor of Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Benitez graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to Stanford University and obtained master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering Design and Biomechanical Engineering where he started interacting and collaborating with orthopedic surgeons at the VA Palo Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center and the Stanford University Medical Center.
He received his medical degree from UC San Diego, School of Medicine. Dr. Benitez then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at UC Irvine Medical Center. From there, he came to New York City for his training in Diagnostic Radiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. Part of this residency included monthly rotations at the Hospital for Special Surgery and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Following radiology residency training, Dr. Benitez completed a subspecialty fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the NYU Langone Medical Center and the Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Benitez’s areas of expertise are orthopedic and sports medicine imaging with MR, CT, ultrasound and radiography to diagnose bone, muscle and joint disease. He also performs therapeutic joint injections.
