About Me
Dr. Montoya-lraheta is board-certified in Pediatric Cardiology. He obtained his medical degree from University of Son Carlos in Guatemala. He was a resident at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and he completed his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York, New York.
He is a founding member of both Heart Core International (an organization dedicated to promoting the care of children with congenital heart disease in their countries of Guatemala, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Peru and Mexico) and RIGME (Resident Driven Global Medicine Education, Incorporated; dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Central American Communities). Prior to joining Mount Sinai South Nassau, Dr. Montoya was the Division Director of Pediatric Cardiology at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, New York for 25 years.
