Research


Dr. Horowitz conducts mixed method (quantitative and qualitative research), implements community and clinically-based clinical trials to improve health, and works with large datasets locally and globally. Currently, she chairs the NIH-NHGRI CSER consortium within which she is PI of a NYC Grant seeking to study the effectiveness of integrating genome sequencing into the clinical care of diverse and medically underserved individuals; is PI of an NHGRI translational genomics clinical trial network (IGNITE); and is PI and engagement director for Mount Sinai’s Clinical Translational Science Award- Conduits, of a NYC-wide clinical data research network- INSIGHT funded by PCRF, and of an NIH Children’s Environmental Health Grant (TCEEE). She also leads studies returning renal risk variants to African ancestry adults and their providers. Her work has also included NIH and CDC-funded grants focused on prevention and control of diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart failure and stroke, and on associations between the built environment, genomics and health.
