About Me
Carrie Ernst, MD is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After receiving her MD from Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Ernst completed her psychiatry residency training at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School and went on to do a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Ernst is board certified in both General Adult Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine.
Dr. Ernst has focused her career on both clinical work in Psychosomatic Medicine and medical education. Her clinical duties include attending on the general consultation psychiatry service at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Ernst currently teaches students at all levels of medical education, including medical students, residents and fellows. She is program director of the Psychosomatic Medicine fellowship, Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry, and the course director for the medical school’s Brain and Behavior course. In her capacity as teacher, she has won awards including the Institute for Medical Education Excellence in Teaching award.
Her areas of interest include: traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, stroke, HIV/AIDS, and reproductive psychiatry
