About Me
Cary Blum, MD, MPA, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He earned his MD from NYU School of Medicine and an MPA in Health Policy and Management from the NYU Wagner School of Public Service in 2016 and completed residency and chief residency training in the Primary Care–Internal Medicine program at NYU/Bellevue before joining the Mount Sinai faculty in 2020. At Mount Sinai, Dr. Blum balances clinical care, educational leadership, and scholarship.
As a primary care physician at Mount Sinai’s Internal Medicine Associates (IMA), Dr. Blum practices patient-centered, evidence-based care and partners with patients to achieve their health goals. His clinical focus is on cardiovascular disease prevention, particularly the management of hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders, and chronic kidney disease. He also serves as a co-investigator on Dr. Valentin Fuster’s PRECAD study, contributing to research aimed at developing innovative strategies for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Blum is deeply involved in graduate medical education through his roles as a resident preceptor at IMA and as Associate Program Director for Medical Education Innovations for the Mount Sinai Hospital Internal Medicine Residency. He also co-directs the Mount Sinai Health System Medical Education Track, mentoring residents in curriculum development and medical education scholarship, and directs the Program for Internal Medicine Skill Mastery (PrISM), which provides residents with individualized coaching.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
