Catherine Elorette, PhD
About Me
I earned my bachelor's degree in Biology at Saint Joseph's University in 2014, and my PhD in Neuroscience at Georgetown University in 2019. I worked with Drs. Ludise Malkova and Patrick Forcelli studying the neural circuitry underlying threat detection in naturalistic and social environments. At Mount Sinai, I work with Drs. Peter Rudebeck and Brian Russ studying the neural circuits involved in decision making.
My research interests focus on determining the neural circuitry underlying maladaptive social behavior, including social anxiety, impairments in empathy or emotion recognition, and deficits in social problem solving or decision making. To do this, I use neuroimaging, neuroanatomical, pharmacological, chemogenetic, and behavioral methods. This avenue of research has relevance to a wide spectrum of disorders that have been observed in humans, including autism, anxiety disorders, and depression.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Elorette has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
