About Me
Catherine Sancimino, Psy.D. is a psychologist and Assistant Professor at the Seaver Autism Center within Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She provides research-reliable clinical evaluations for children and adults for ongoing studies at Seaver, including administration of the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview, Revised). Dr. Sancimino is the co-P.I. of a clinical (non-drug) trial at Seaver, for which she provides evaluations and expert clinical judgment. In addition, Dr. Sancimino provides supervision for psychology fellows and doctoral student trainees at Seaver. She works with Mount Sinai and local New York City organizations to provide webinars to disseminate knowledge about autism. She also offers comprehensive clinical evaluations to non-research participants.
Dr. Sancimino has contributed to clinical research publications. The most recent article, “The brain gene registry: A data snapshot” in the Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (2024) focuses on advancing translational research by developing a databank pairing genetic variant data with phenotypic data. Dr. Sancimino’s presentation at the INSAR 2022 Annual Meeting focused on multisensory integration and adaptive communication in autistic and non-autistic youth.
Dr. Sancimino earned her doctorate of psychology in 2010 from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco, California, where she focused her graduate work on child and adolescent psychology and taught cognitive assessment courses. In her second year of clinical training, she provided early intervention services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland (formerly Oakland Children’s Hospital), which inspired her to develop an expertise in autism and developmental disabilities. Along with her graduate studies, Dr. Sancimino volunteered with the Northern California Society of Psychoanalytic Psychology (NCSPP) and was elected Chair of the Pre-Licensed Clinicians Committee. Also as a graduate student, Dr. Sancimino was accepted into the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP) mentoring program, where she participated in specialized training to work with children using a psychodynamic theoretical framework.
