Cesar Sanz, MD
Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery / Proctology
About Me
Dr. Cesar Sanz has been in practice as a colorectal surgeon for over 15 years. After earning his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center, Dr. Sanz entered his General Surgery residency at The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During this time, he had several leadership roles, including Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Sanz then remained at The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for his fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery. With his double board certification by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery, Dr. Sanz specializes in minimally invasive procedures and advanced laparoscopic techniques. His work allows patients to return to daily activities within just a few days after major surgery. Additionally, Dr. Sanz is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Before joining CRSSNY, Dr. Sanz worked as an attending colorectal surgeon for the North Shore LIJ Health System. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Hofstra Medical School where he teaches colorectal procedures to young medical professionals.
During his years in practice, Dr. Sanz has contributed his extensive research to numerous medical journals. He also holds active memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Sanz's love for being a surgeon stems from the opportunity his work grants him to help people. When with his patients, Dr. Sanz focuses on establishing trust with patients and their families to provide the best care possible. Dr. Sanz's patients can read more about his journey through medicine and view CRSSNY's day, evening, and weekend hours at https://www.crssny.com.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. SANZ has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
