About Me
Charles Ascher-Walsh, MD, is a leading physician in women's health and the System Senior Vice Chair of Gynecology in the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at Mount Sinai. He also serves as Director of the Division of Urogynecology.
A highly experienced and respected surgeon, Dr. Ascher-Walsh is internationally recognized for his extensive research and expertise in the areas of fibroids, urinary incontinence, prolapse and fistula. He has authored more than 100 published papers and abstracts and contributed to text books relating to these conditions. He also has led multiple randomized control trials examining minimally invasive techniques. In 2004, Dr. Ascher-Walsh launched the Fibroid Center of New York and has successfully treated thousands of women with fibroids, offering both medical and alternative treatments including natural supplements and acupuncture.
Dr. Ascher-Walsh has been named a Castle Connolly/New York Magazine Top Doctor, Most Compassionate Doctor, and a New York Times Magazine Super Doctor annually for the past several years. He has been a featured expert in numerous media, including the BBC Worldwide News, New York Magazine, and the Huffington Post.
	Dr. Ascher-Walsh received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Brooklyn, where he received top honors as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and his fellowship in urogynecology and minimally invasive surgery at Columbia University, from which he also received a master’s degree in biostatistics.
