About Me

Christina M. Cruz, MD, is Associate Program Director for Ambulatory Care and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai at Beth Israel. She is a Primary Care Internist. Dr. Cruz earned her Doctor of Medicine at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2011 and completed her internship and residency at Montefiore’s Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine Residency Program. She oversees the residency's Ambulatory and Wellness Curricula.

Dr. Cruz regularly reviews clinical vignettes and medical education workshops for the Society of General Internal Medicine's (SGIM) annual and regional conferences and is serving as the 2018 Co-Chair for SGIM’s Mid-Atlantic Medical Innovations Committee. She participates in medical education research including a multi-center study of prevalence and potential contributors to burnout among resident physicians, along with research designed to study whether or not decreasing clerical burden decreases burnout among Internal Medicine residents. In 2014, she received Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Leo M. Davidoff Society's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Medical Students. In 2018, she received the National Hispanic Medical Association’s 2018 Young Physicians of the Year Award.  Dr. Cruz's primary area of interest is the intersection between medical education and social accountability.
