Christina Roberts, MD

About Me

Christina Marie Roberts, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Pediatrics specializing in Adolescent Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She serves as the Associate Director of the Adolescent Health Center at Mount Sinai Hospital and is a clinician at the Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Roberts focuses on gender-affirming medical care for transgender and gender-diverse adolescents and young adults, as well as sexual and reproductive healthcare and behavioral health concerns.
Before joining Mount Sinai in 2024, Dr. Roberts spent 23 years in the US Navy after graduating from the University of Oklahoma, School of Medicine in 1995. Her naval career included serving in various academic and operational settings globally, including the continental US, Hawaii, Okinawa, South Korea, Kuwait, Iraq, and Guantanamo Cuba. At her final posting, she directed the military adolescent medicine training program in San Antonio, designed and implemented a contraceptive clinic for basic trainees in the Air Force, and was instrumental in founding the Air Force Center of Excellence in Gender-Affirming Care for active-duty service members. From 2018 to 2024, Dr. Roberts created and led the adolescent medicine training program at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri. She was also involved in the Gender Pathway Services Clinic at Children’s Mercy, offering gender-affirming medical care to adolescents in the Midwest. Finally, in 2022 and 2023, Dr. Roberts served on the American College of Graduate Medical Education Adolescent Medicine Milestones 2.0 Committee, defining the requirements for Adolescent Medicine training programs in North America, and the American Board of Pediatrics MOCA-Peds standard setting panel, defining the qualification standards for Adolescent Medicine specialists.

Research:
Dr. Roberts conducts research focusing on informing public policy, particularly in areas such as access to contraception for young women in the US military and gender-affirming medical and surgical care for adolescents and young adults.
