About Me

Dr. Christopher Romero is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. He is a clinical provider in the outpatient center and also the newly appointed Director of the Pediatric Endocrine Fellowship. He received his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine, completing his residency at UCSF-Fresno, CA and then fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University. He remained on faculty at Johns Hopkins University as a NIH grant funded researcher as well as clinical provider in the endocrine division. Dr. Romero’s research focused on investigating the genetic basis of idiopathic combined pituitary hormone deficiency (CPHD) in the pediatric population in order to describe mutations in any of several transcription factors important in pituitary development. Dr. Romero’s research also focused on investigating intracellular mechanisms regulating somatotroph development and growth hormone (GH) gene regulation through the development of several mouse models in which insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) signaling was disrupted to either the pituitary or hypothalamus. Dr. Romero’s research interests continue to be in the investigation of disorders of growth and development.
