Dana Klavansky, MD, is a distinguished Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Neurology at the Mount Sinai Health System and serves as the Associate Program Director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. In this role, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication, establishing and overseeing monthly simulation sessions for APPs and pre-residency fellows (PRFs) at the STAR/CAMS centers at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai West. Her responsibilities include setting up, running, and debriefing sessions, as well as training advanced practice providers and pre-residency fellows in ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous (PIV), midline, and central line insertions.
Dr. Klavansky also initiated a bi-weekly lecture curriculum for the nursing staff, focusing on high-yield topics in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU). She is re-introducing in-situ mock codes in the NSICU at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai West, enhancing the preparedness and response of the medical team. Additionally, she has contributed to research, with an IRB-approved study on the implementation of an educational curriculum for APPs and PRFs.
Her excellence in teaching and clinical practice has been recognized with several honors and awards. In 2025, Dr. Klavansky was honored by the nurses of the The Mount Sinai Hospital NSICU for her devotion of time and support to advancing nursing education. She was named the Institute of Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai Junior Attending of the Year for 2023-2024 and served as Chief Resident in Neurology from 2020-2021.
