About Me
Dr. Dana Zalkin is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She obtained her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. She remained at NYU for her internal medicine residency where she served as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Zalkin completed her fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Montefiore Medical Center during which time she also served as Chief Gastroenterology Fellow.
Dr. Zalkin provides clinical care for patients with a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal disorders. She has a particular clinical focus on patients and families with hereditary colon cancer syndromes. Dr. Zalkin believes strongly in patient-centered care and works with a multidisciplinary team at Mount Sinai to provide this to each and every patient.

Dr. Zalkin has a great manner.
Dr. Z gave me great advice about what to do if I forget to take my medicine before breakfast which I'm supposed to do. I rarely forget, but early in the morning I do occasionally eat something before taking my medication. She suggested I wait and take the medication before my next meal. Great idea! [...]
Dr. Zalkin is very impressive . She Is a Thorough questioner, empathetic listener , and really tries to come up with a preliminary plan of action that includes lab testing , trial and error with some possible specific medicines, etc. I have seen two other doctors who essentially just threw up their hands .Dr. Zalkin has given me hope I can find a solution to my diarrhea problem
