About Me
Dr. Dane Doctor is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. He earned his undergraduate degree from Hope College, followed by Master of Science degrees in Biomedical Science and Healthcare Administration from Rosalind Franklin University, where he also completed his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. He went on to complete his anesthesiology residency at the University of Kentucky and subspecialty fellowship training in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Double board-certified in Anesthesiology and Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology, Dr. Doctor holds Diplomate status in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (Advanced PTE). Beyond high-acuity cardiothoracic and electrophysiological surgical care, he serves as a departmental resource for preoperative optimization, case triage, and rapid intraoperative rescue consultations. Aligned with Enhanced Recovery After Cardiac Surgery (ERACS) principles, he also specializes in integrating ultrasound-guided regional block modalities to establish targeted, opioid-sparing care pathways.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Doctor is actively engaged in medical education, clinical research, and resident mentorship. His scholarly work evaluates regional block modalities to reduce postoperative narcotic requirements and accelerate patient recovery. Nationally, he serves as workshop faculty for ultrasound-guided regional block techniques at the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) annual meeting. Dr. Doctor is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
