About Me

Daniel S. Safin MD is the Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.  Dr. Safin is a faculty member in the Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel of which he had previously been the Division Director as well as the Program Director for the Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. An Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Dr. Safin is a Past President of the New York County Psychiatric Society (NYCPS), a District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association with over 1800 members, and is currently elected to the executive council of the NYCPS.  He mentors residents and fellows in various clinical and academic settings in pursuit of his strong interest in graduate medical education.

Dr. Safin graduated from the University of Rochester with a BA in Biology and Health & Society.  He obtained his MD from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. Following an Internship in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, Dr. Safin completed both his residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. Dr. Safin is Board Certified in Psychiatry as well as Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.  Additionally Dr. Safin is a member of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and the Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists. Dr. Safin’s research interests include areas within Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, as well as development of new Graduate Medical Education approaches to teaching.
