About Me
Dr. David Power is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Power attended medical school at the University College Cork, Ireland. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine where he received the Ira M. Goldstein award for clinical teaching, and the Alpha Omega Alpha award for clinical and research excellence. He subsequently completed his cardiology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, serving as Chief Fellow in his final year, followed by a second advanced fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Power is quintuple board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiac Computed Tomography. Dr. Power’s clinical practice focuses on coronary artery disease and coronary calcium, new stent technology, and peripheral arterial disease.
In his professional community, Dr. Power is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), and he has served on national committees for the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (SCAI) and the American Heart Association (AHA). He holds academic teaching roles with residents and fellows at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Queens, in addition to teaching medical students as part of the cardiology curriculum. Dr. Power is actively involved in clinical research to better understand cardiovascular disease. He has authored or co-authored over 75 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts, and has authored numerous book chapters on complex coronary artery disease.
When discussing his role in medicine, Dr. Power explains, "I strive to help patients make informed decisions about their health and like to work with them as a team to reach their goals." Outside of his time with patients, Dr. Power leads an active lifestyle. Before going to medical school, Dr. Power competed for Ireland internationally on the Irish National Rowing Team.
