About Me

Dr. Berman graduated summa cum laude from the Brooklyn College/Downstate 7 yr BA/MD program, earning his doctorate in medicine in 1982. Since completing his post-graduate training in internal medicine and ophthalmology, concluding as a senior fellow in vitreo-retinal surgery at Hermann Eye Center at Univ of TX in Houston, Dr. Berman opened the Brooklyn Retinal Vascular Center in 1989. In his 27th year, as founding director, Dr. Berman manages the wide gamut of medical and surgical diseases in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. Major procedures are performed at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. Dr. Berman has a particular interest in diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachments, and has published and lectured on these subjects at the local, regional and national levels.

Industry Relationships

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
