About Me
Dr. Dean Pappas joined CRSSNY as an accomplished colorectal surgeon over 20 years ago. Upon completing his undergraduate studies at Binghamton University, Dr. Pappas attended Stony Brook University School of Medicine for his doctorate. He then entered into his residency in General Surgery at Stony Brook and was named Chief Resident in his final year. To complete his training, Dr. Pappas studied Colon & Rectal Surgery during his fellowship at Orlando Regional Medical Center. With his double board certification by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery, Dr. Pappas specializes in minimally invasive procedures, robotic surgical systems, and advanced laparoscopic techniques. His work allows patients to return to daily activities within just a few days after major surgery.
Through his contributions and dedication to the medical education of students, residents, and fellows, Dr. Pappas has continued his time in academia as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Stony Brook University. His work in his field has also been recognized for seven consecutive years by Castle Connolly's Top Doctors on Long Island and in the New York Tristate Area.
In addition to seeing patients at CRSSNY, Dr. Pappas serves as both Senior VP of The Mount Sinai Health Network and the Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Mount Sinai South Nassau.
