About Me

Dr. Began is currently a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the Kimberly and Eric Waldman Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  Previously Dr. Began has served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the NYU School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Dr. Began completed the accelerated B.S. /M.D. program graduating cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and her medical degree from Albany Medical College.   She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Albany Medical College and Montefiore Medical Center and her dermatology training at the Indiana University School of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident.  

Dr. Began has served as a member of the Executive Board of the New York University Medical Center.  She was the recipient of the Irwin Lubowe Fellowship for outstanding academic scholarship and the NYU Full Time Dermatology Faculty of the Year Award in 2001.  In 2014, Dr. Began was awarded with the Special Recognition Award from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Unified Division of Dermatology for outstanding mentorship of dermatology residents, medical students and colleagues. At the Albert Einstein Medical School she wrote the Dean's letters for graduating students interested in Dermatology.
